West Texas A&M University Buffs got a 63-20 non-conference win over the Adams State College Grizzlies on Saturday. The Grizzlies now start off the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference season when they host the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers on Saturday.
The Adams State College volleyball team overcame a 1-game deficit to get their 2nd Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference win over arch-rival Western State Saturday night in Plachy Hall. The win was the Grizzlies' third straight and fourth in their last five good for a first place tie with 2006 RMAC Champion Western New Mexico. The Grizzlies now go on the road next weekend to face Fort Lewis and Mesa State.
The Colorado Christian University Cougars held on for a 2-1 win over the Adams State College Grizzlies on Sunday. The win was CCU's first of the season. The Grizzlies, winless in their last three games, now go to Fort Lewis and then return home to face Metro State on Sunday at 1 p.m.

NFL Wrap-Up:
Jason Elam drilled a 42-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Denver Broncos to a dramatic 15-14 win over the Buffalo Bills at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
Ben Roethlisberger completed 12-of-23 passes for 161 yards and a career-high four touchdowns, leading the Pittsburgh Steelers to a 34-7 rout of the Cleveland Browns.
Mason Crosby hit a 42-yard field goal with two seconds remaining, and the Green Bay Packers beat the Philidelphia Eagles 16-13 at Lambeau Field. Brett Favre went 23-of-42 for 206 yards with an interception.
Matt Schaub passed for 225 yards with a touchdown as the Houston Texans opened the season with a 20-3 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Chris Brown ran for 175 yards and Vince Young rushed for a score, as the Tennessee Titans downed the Jacksonville Jaguars, 13-10. Adrian Peterson caught a 60-yard touchdown pass in his NFL debut and the Minnesota defense added two touchdowns, as the Vikings downed a Michael Vick-less Atlanta Falcons team, 24-3.
Tom Brady completed 22-of-28 passes for 297 yards and three touchdowns, as New England routed the New York Jets, 38-14, in the season opener for both clubs at the Meadowlands.
Jake Delhomme threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns as the Carolina Panthers stifled the St. Louis Rams, 27-13.
Shaun Suisham drilled a 39-yard field goal just over 5 1/2 minutes into overtime, lifting the Washington Redskins to a 16-13 victory over the Miami Dolphins.
Jon Kitna threw three touchdown passes, one of them to rookie phenom Calvin Johnson, as the Detroit Lions coughed up a lead but rallied to beat the Oakland Raiders, 36-21.
LaDainian Tomlinson ran for a touchdown and threw another as the San Diego Chargers overcame the Chicago Bears, 14-3.
Matt Hasselbeck completed 17-of-24 passes for 222 yards and a touchdown, and the Seattle Seahawks recovered from a slow start to top the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 20-6.
Tony Romo threw for a career-high 345 yards and four touchdowns to lead Dallas to a 45-35 victory over the New York Giants.

LSU is closing in on Southern California in the AP Top 25, and Appalachian State is getting some recognition. No. 2 LSU took 19 first-place votes from No. 1 USC in the AP Top 25. Appalachian State, a week after pulling off a stunning upset at Michigan, received 19 points, not nearly enough to be ranked but it got a spot between Auburn and Cincinnati in the list of others receiving votes. Appalachian State appeared on four ballots and got a 13th-place vote.
Colorado beat San Diego 4-2 on Sunday to take two of three in the series and close within three games of the wild card-leading Padres. The Rockies are six behind first-place Arizona in the NL West. The Philadelphia Phillies and Colorado Rockies both look to improve their postseason chances today when they open a crucial four-game series at Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies are two games behind San Diego for the NL wild card lead but the Rockies are just one game behind them.
Tiger Woods celebrated his 60th career title on Sunday with a flawless final-round 63 to capture the BMW Championship and become just the fifth player to win 60 PGA Tour titles.

The Grizzlies enter Wednesday night's RMAC opener at Colorado State-Pueblo with a 4-4 overall record and are just one win shy of matching their 2006 win total of five. That match, which will be held at Pueblo Centennial High School, begins at 7 p.m. and can be heard on KSPK-FM. The broadcast, which begins at 6:45 p.m. after an abbreviated Grizzly Talk starting at 6:30 p.m. can also be heard online at www.kspk.com.
Adams State College middle blocker Darcy Jennings (Lakin, Kan.) has been named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference/Baden West Division Volleyball Player of the Week for her strong all-around play at last week's Days Inn-Denver West Oredigger Volleyball Classic, hosted by the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado.
The Colorado Rockies got a come-from-behind 6-5 victory over the San Francisco Giants winning thier third straight. Today the Rockies go for their second three-game sweep of the Giants in 2007 when the NL West rivals conclude their series at Coors field.
Shaquille O'Neal has filed to divorce his wife after nearly five years of marriage. Shaunie O'Neal has been asked to provide a "correct accounting of all money, funds, stocks, bonds, and other securities" that she had access to or obtained during the marriage. They are the parents of six children; Shaquille and Shaunie O'Neal had four together, and each had one other before their December 26, 2002, wedding.
Nebraska coach Bill Callahan has been given a new, five-year contract for $1.75 million a year. Callahan is 23-15 in four seasons with the Cornhuskers, winning the Big 12 North championship last year.

Adams State College Josh Gibson caught four balls for 75 yards while rushing
once for eight yards. He then made five catches for 44 yards and a touchdown
against Dixie State. He also had a kick return of 43 yards to set up his
score.
Danny Dyson, in two games, has made a RMAC-high 23 tackles, including seven solos. He had a career high 17 of those in ASC’s season-opener against Midwestern State (Texas). He had four solo stops in that game, Dyson then turned in six tackles, including three solos, against Dixie State (Utah).
Wayne Durham a pre-season All-American and the RMAC’s Preseason Special Teams Player of the Year, has averaged 47.2 yards on 12 punts (567 yards) in ASC’s first two games, and averaged 49.0 yards on five punts against Midwestern State and 46.0 yards on seven attempts against Dixie State. The Grizzlies will host nationally-ranked West Texas A&M in the 2007 Beef Bowl.

with 290 rushing yards on 32 carries and four touchdowns in a 34-24 win
at Washburn. On Saturday at home against Wayne State, he carried the ball
16 times for 104 yards and two scores. He also caught four passes for 99
yards.

The Denver Broncos signed free agent sacks specialist Simeon Rice whose 121 career sacks rank second to Michael Strahan among active players. The 33-year-old started the first eight games last year before being sidelined by a shoulder injury.
Jeff Francis's one-out double started a seven-run third inning as the Rockies opened a crucial six-game homestand with a 7-4 win over the San Francisco Giants. The Rockies improved to 71-66. They are five games above .500 for the first time since August 15. The Rockies look to extend a four-game winning streak at Coors Field when they play the middle game of their series with the San Francisco Giants. Colorado announced it will be without starters Aaron Cook and Jason Hirsh for the rest of the season. The Rockies will call up Franklin Morales rom Triple-A Colorado Springs to start today.
